The Challenge:

As Cotton On continued to scale, they saw an opportunity to modernize utility management – aiming to enhance operational oversight, support growth and unlock data-driven decision-making.

Cotton On

Platform

  • Utility Bill Insights
    • Bill Gap Reporting
    • Automatic Bill follow up
    • Year On Year Tracking – Usage and Spend
    • Emissions Tracking and Comparison

Cotton On faced challenges in managing utility data across its large Australian and US portfolio.

One of the primary hurdles was maintaining visibility over bill payment timelines.  Without a centralized system, financial planning became increasingly complex, adding unnecessary costs and operational pressure as the business scaled its energy portfolio and vendor relationships.

The limited ability to track and optimize energy data meant potential cost-saving opportunities were harder to identify.  For example, energy costs could not be accurately accounted for when negotiating rental agreements with landlords. As Cotton On scaled, greater visibility into vendor performance data became essential to strengthening its position during energy contract negotiations.

Sustainability reporting presented another challenge, the process of reporting Scope 2 emissions required substantial manual effort, making sustainability tracking inefficient and resource intensive.

Our Solution

WideSky’s Utility Bill Insights automated the collection, validation, and analysis of bills across electricity, water, and gas — enabling exception-based workflows and unlocking accurate, auditable utility data portfolio-wide.

A phased, structured rollout enabled Cotton On to enhance utility operations with minimal disruption – providing value through automation, centralized data and smarter procurement.
