Frequently Asked Questions

What is a point?

WideSky licenses are based on the number of points that are used. A point is typically a sensor that produces a measurement over time. Points can also be represented as a configuration value such as a setpoint or a calculated value such as an alarm. All points used across each product (Cloud, Edge, Hub) are managed in WideSky Cloud.

What is the difference between the Pay-as-you-go and Upfront payment options?

For some WideSky products, we provide multiple payment methods:

Pay-as-you-go

Pay-as-you-go allows you to easily adapt to changing business needs without overcommitting budgets and improving your responsiveness to changes. It is better suited to users that prefer the low cost and flexibility of WideSky without any up-front payment or long-term commitment.

Upfront

Upfront provides a saving of up to 30% off equivalent pay-as-you-go pricing. This method is better suited to WideSky applications with predictable usage and for customers that can commit to using WideSky over a 1 year term to reduce their total costs.
